Understanding the 3.0TD tariff: Quick guide to time slots for your business

If your business, SME or community of neighbours has a contracted power greater than 15 kW, your electricity bill is calculated under the 3.0TD tariff. Unlike households, this modality divides the year into different seasons and the day into 6 time periods. Below, we explain simply how it works so you can optimise your costs.

How is the year divided in the 3.0TD tariff?

The year is divided into 4 billing seasons (applicable to the Peninsula):

  • High Season (The most expensive): January, February, July and December.

  • Medium-High Season: March and November.

  • Medium Season: June, August and September.

  • Low Season (The cheapest): April, May and October.

The 6 time periods from Monday to Friday

Depending on the season we are in, the hours of your working days will have different costs, ranging from P1 (the most expensive segment) to P6 (the most economical segment):

  • P1 (Very Expensive): Applies only in High Season (from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00).

  • P2 (Expensive): Applies in High Season (the rest of the hours of the day) and during the central hours of Medium-High Season.

  • P3 (Normal): Applies during the central hours of Medium Season.

  • P4 (Moderate): Applies during the central hours of Low Season.

  • P5 (Economic): Remaining hours of the Low Season.

  • P6 (The cheapest): Always covers from 00:00 to 08:00 in the morning at any time of the year.

Weekends and holidays

What happens on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays? Good news: The 24 hours of the day become period P6 (the cheapest). If your business can schedule certain processes or consumption for the weekend, the savings will be immediate.

What can you do to reduce this bill?

Since the most expensive periods completely coincide with the usual commercial and productive hours of businesses, the most effective way to combat high periods (P1 and P2) is the installation of solar panels. Photovoltaic production coincides with sunny hours, just when the electricity grid charges you more.
